Ajmal Basheer

Ajmal Basheer currently heads the Processing business at Arab Financial Services (AFS). His diverse experience spans over 25 years in the banking and fintech sectors across esteemed institutions in the GCC, UK, and India. His industry expertise covers issuing and acquiring portfolios, product development, and project management. Ajmal has worked with renowned companies such as Lloyds TSB UK, Qatar National Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank in India. His journey also includes pivotal roles in IT services and fintech organizations like Network International, Infosys Technologies Ltd in India and Cardtek in Turkey. Adept at managing Profit and Loss (P&L) independently, Ajmal has spearheaded both issuing and acquiring portfolios for key GCC banks, encompassing Islamic and conventional banking practices. He possesses a keen insight into emerging trends, including digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, digital onboarding solutions, loyalty, and campaign management, as well as payment service providers (PSPs)/merchant aggregation models. Ajmal holds an MBA degree from University of Pune, India in addition to a bachelor’s degree in commerce from University of Calicut, India.
